Consultant Respiratory Physician - Interstitial Lung Disease

We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Respiratory Physician with a specialist interest in Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) to join one of the UK's largest and most research-active ILD services. The successful candidate will join a nationally commissioned tertiary referral centre providing specialist care for patients with pulmonary fibrosis, connective tissue disease-associated ILD, sarcoidosis, genetic ILD, and drug-induced ILD. This post offers outstanding opportunities to develop specialist expertise, participate in clinical trials and translational research, contribute to innovative service development, and work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team with strong academic links to University College London.

Main Duties of the Role

The successful candidate will join a nationally recognised tertiary Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) service delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the spectrum of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases. They will contribute to specialist ILD outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, inpatient consultations, and the assessment and management of patients referred from across London and the UK.

Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the post holder will participate in service development, education and training of junior medical staff and allied health professionals, and contribute to maintaining and enhancing a high-quality, evidence-based ILD service.

The post offers excellent opportunities to develop a specialist area of interest within ILD and to contribute to an internationally recognised academic programme. Applicants will be encouraged to participate in clinical trials, translational research, and service innovation, with opportunities to develop expertise in areas such as drug-induced ILD, precision medicine, translational immunology, digital healthcare, and novel models of care.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop both clinically and academically within one of the UK's leading respiratory departments.
