Job Overview
Consultant Radiologist with Specialist Interest in Diagnostic Neuroradiology (10 PA’s) - for a substantive Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologist to meet the increased demand for imaging services via both the RUH and CDC workstreams, in particular neuroradiology. The post holder will also be involved in MDT working including attendance at regular neuroradiology and stroke clinicoradiological meetings. The postholder will help develop the existing multiple sclerosis service within the Trust.
The post is full time but anyone wishing to work part time is also encouraged to apply. The post includes participation in the evening and weekend and on-call rota. Outsourcing is used for most cross-sectional emergency work performed after 2000, 7 days a week.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will contribute to the general radiology work of the Department (Hot reporting, Ultrasound, the acute imaging service) in conjunction with the other Radiologists all of whom also perform regular sessions in general radiology.
- The post holder must also have and maintain skills for general radiology on call.
- The post holder is required to participate in out of hours and on-call duties (1 in 20 rota).
- A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected. The appointee will be expected to arrange an annual appraisal.
- An interest in research and teaching is expected with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the Department and Trust.
- Attendance at, and organisation of relevant meetings is expected.
- The post holder may be expected to cover for colleagues when absent.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Fully accredited clinical radiologist on GMC specialist register
- Entry on the GMC specialist register, or within 6 months of proposed CCT date
- FRCR
Desirable criteria
- European Diploma in Neuroradiology
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Tertiary neuroradiology experience at Consultant or Fellowship level
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions including spinal imaging
- General Radiology ability and training appropriate to a DGH environment
- Fully motivated in contributing to the work of the department and in maintaining a high standard of personal development
- Experience of working within an established multiple sclerosis and/or epilepsy service

Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading a tertiary neuroradiology MDT
- Second related subspecialty interest (e.g. skull base, H&N or spinal imaging)
Teaching Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to support multidisciplinary teaching and subspecialty training
- Experience of organising teaching and training
Desirable criteria
- Experience of teaching SpR’s
- Postgraduate teaching qualification
Research Experience
Essential criteria
- Interest in participating in departmental audit and research
- Evidence of prior audit and research work
