Consultant Post in Spinal Surgery

Requirements

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Job Details

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Hospital for Children and Young people.

This new post is for a full time, substantive Consultant post in Spinal Surgery at this nationally designated centre and the post is available from 1st August 2026. This post is an expansion to the current consultant complement and is designed to enhance our 2 consultant per case model of care. The post requires training in paediatric and adult spinal deformity surgery. The surgical activity is based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with some outpatient activity at Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, and planned expansion to further satellite areas in Scotland.
