Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Yeovil District Hospital (YDH)
Role Overview
The full-time Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist (Permanent) will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, management, and advice for patients requiring mental health support during their inpatient stay at Yeovil District Hospital.
Focusing on collaboration, you will work closely with:
- Acute hospital colleagues
- Mental health teams
- Multidisciplinary services to deliver high-quality integrated care.
Contract: Permanent ** Hours:** 10 PAs per week (7.5 DCC / 2.5 SPA) Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00 On-call Requirement: None (with occasional potential cross-site cover for Musgrove Park Hospital during colleague leave)

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct specialist psychiatric assessments for inpatient patients with mental health needs
- Offer clinical guidance, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Facilitate seamless coordination between acute and mental health services
- Act as a liaison expert, supporting multidisciplinary discussions
- Contribute to service development, training, and improving mental health pathways in Somerset
