About the Role
An exciting opportunity has emerged for an experienced and forward-thinking Consultant Occupational Health Physician to join the Occupational Health Service at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH).
This is an outstanding chance for a dynamic Occupational Health Physician to take on a key leadership role in delivering a high-quality, evidence-based occupational health service that fosters the health, wellbeing, and productivity of staff. The role involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, managers, and senior leaders, providing expert clinical leadership and specialised advice to support employees across a diverse healthcare organisation.
As the Consultant Occupational Health Physician, your responsibilities will include:
- Shaping and developing the service to ensure clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous quality improvement
- Championing best practice and contributing to service transformation and clinical governance
- Supporting the development of the Occupational Health team through education, mentorship, and professional leadership
- Influencing organisational wellbeing strategies while delivering person-centred occupational health care that allows employees to remain healthy, safe, and productive

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Core Clinical Leadership & Occupational Health Services
- Provide expert clinical guidance in delivering Occupational Medicine services, including:
- Complex fitness-for-work assessments
- Workplace safety evaluations
- Management of occupational health conditions across a broad spectrum
- Lead and ensure clinical oversight of health surveillance programmes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, clinical standards, and best practice.
Specialist Occupational Health Advisory Role
- Offer **specialist clinical advice on:
- Blood-borne viruses (BBVs)
- Complex occupational health cases
- Workplace adjustments
- Sickness absence management
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based reports to support managerial and organisational decision-making.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Training
- Contribute to multidisciplinary case conferences with nurses, advisors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Play an active role in educational, teaching, and training programmes for Occupational Health staff, other professionals, and stakeholders.

Service Development & Operational Management
- Drive strategic service development through:
- Audits
- Service evaluations
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Clinical governance
- Support operational management by:
- Training staff
- Developing the Occupational Health programme’s execution plan
- Workforce planning
- Aligned service goal delivery
Professional Upholdment & Compliance
- Maintain standards of professional practice through:
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Appraisals & revalidation
- Compliance with GMC and Faculty of Occupational Medicine guidelines
- Ensure all activities comply with:
- Trust policies
- Health and safety legislation
- Clinical governance principles
- Organisational values
Representation & Organisational Influence
- Represent the Occupational Health Service at internal/external committees, meetings, and forums.
- Influence wellbeing and health acceptance policies.
- Advocate for a Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Culture.
