Consultant Salary
£111,430 – 148,064 per annum
Specialist Doctor Salary
£100,870 - £111,441 per annum
Additional Benefits
- Distant Islands Allowance: £1,461 per annum
- Relocation Expenses: up to £8,000
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week (1.0 WTE)

About the Role
We are inviting applications for the post of Consultant or Specialist Doctor in Adult Psychiatry.
- Consultant Applicants: Must be on the GMC Specialist Register, with a License to Practice, or be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the date of interview.
- Specialist Doctor Applicants: Must hold full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice and have at least 10 years of postgraduate experience, of which at least 6 years must be within the relevant specialty.

Job Details
You will be based in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway and will oversee outreach services to other islands and community hospitals. Western Isles Hospital is a modern Rural General Hospital (Plus) containing 85 inpatient beds, including a 5-bedded acute psychiatric assessment unit. Working in the largest of Scotland’s islands offers a unique opportunity to combine modern and progressive clinical practice with a lifestyle that is difficult to match.
Terms and Conditions
- Consultant Grade: NHS Terms and Conditions of the New Consultant Grade (Scotland) 2004 Terms and Conditions of Service.
- Specialist Doctor: Specialist Doctor in Scotland (2022) apply.
- Working Hours: 10 PAs (8DCC +2 SPAs) per week plus up to a maximum of 2 EPAs per week and an 8% availability allowance subject to an agreed job plan.
- On-Call Rota: 1:2.
Registration and Relocation
The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is eligible for relocation expenses.
