Consultant Process Engineer

Consultant Process Engineer – Integrated Systems & Environment (IS&E) Directorate

The Role

WRc are recruiting for a Consultant Process Engineer to join the Integrated Systems and Environment (IS&E) directorate on a full-time basis (37 hours per week), based in Swindon with the option to work hybrid.

ideal candidate will combine technical expertise within a dynamic commercial environment, providing client-facing consultancy solutions, supporting proposals, and delivering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to identify and develop potential new business opportunities
  • Assist the IS&E team in crafting value propositions and refining technical solutions for future project opportunities
  • Utilize networking skills to forge strong relationships both within IS&E and across broader external networks
  • Represent WRc/RSK at industry events, conferences, and conferences to promote the business and enhance development efforts
    • Includes engagement with academia and industry to support strategy and growth

Project Delivery

  • Track emerging environmental challenges and the trajectory of regulatory advancements
  • Assist with identifying, developing, and refining technical solutions to address client challenges
  • Contribute to project delivery, ensuring budgets, timelines, and quality standards are met or exceeded
  • Assist teammates under pressure to meet client expectations, timelines, and deadlines

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Qualification: An undergraduate or postgraduate degree (e.g. Masters or PhD) in:
    • Science
    • Engineering
    • Environmental science
  • Consultancy experience:
    • Proven record of delivering consultancy to diverse clients
    • Experience working directly with clients, building relationships, and exceeding expectations
  • Communication and documentation skills:
    • Strong written communication; ability to craft robust and comprehensive deliverables
  • Technical proficiency:
    • Advanced Excel skills: Analyse and present data in spreadsheets
    • PowerPoint mastery: Use established WRc templates and present effectively to clients, peers, and senior leadership
  • Soft skills:
    • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders

Legal requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence

Compensation

  • Base salary: Up to £45,000 (compensation dependent on experience and qualifications)
