Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital

The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. This is an established post. The vacancy has arisen as a result of the current postholder re-locating.


This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic consultant psychiatrist to join this well-established in-patient eating disorders unit, with a well-functioning MDT and good national and international reputation.


About the Role

The Adult Eating Disorder services comprise of the following:

  • Inpatient unit – Avalon Ward
  • Outpatient service
  • Day unit

All are located in a new, state-of-the-art Trinity building.


About the Trust

The Trust operates as part of the South London Partnership (SLP) - a collaboration between the 3 trusts providing Mental health services for the 12 Boroughs of South London (South London and Maudsley [SLaM], OXLEAS, and this Trust, South West London & St. George’s MH Trust). The SLP has an excellent reputation locally and nationally in the context of innovation and good quality, patient-centred care for the population of South London.

About the Avalon Ward

Avalon Ward is an 18-bed unit, providing care for local and national patients, mostly from Surrey, Sussex, and Kent, with eating disorders requiring inpatient treatment. The service accepts patients from the age of 18 who cannot be supported effectively in the community. Decisions about admissions are made jointly with our partner in the Provider Collaborative (SLAM) in the Single Point of Referrals.
