We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health for West Wiltshire and Devizes (WWKD). This post is an existing post, which has become vacant due to the post-holder moving into a new post.
The WWKD CMHT covers patients from the CCG of the same name. The area is a mix of small villages and market towns including Devizes, Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury and Warminster. There are 18 GP practices in the area with a total population of approximately 165,000 of all ages. The team has office bases in Shearwater Lodge in Warminster and Green Lane Hospital Devizes. Community clinic facilities are available on a series of other sites within the catchment area.
Role Responsibilities
As the post holder you will deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need including those service users who require an assertive approach who are difficult to engage. This will include ongoing assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.

As the post holder you will provide Medical input and leadership to the WWKD CMHT with particular responsibility for patients from surgeries in Melksham and Trowbridge.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams in the WWKD CMHT Team and attend regular Team MDT meetings.
- Assessment and treatment of outpatients in clinics.
- Hold CPA meetings for outpatients.
- Visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
- Liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non-NHS organisations wherever applicable.
- Liaise with the Intensive and Inpatient services as appropriate to facilitate the smooth handover of clients between services.
- To fulfil the Responsible Clinician role with respect to patients subject to Community Treatment Orders.
