The role

As a Consultant Psychiatrist within the East Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, you'll provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based treatment for adults with complex and enduring mental health needs, while offering clinical leadership across the wider team.

  • Deliver specialist psychiatric assessments and treatment planning
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders
  • Provide clinical supervision to higher trainees and support multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Undertake Mental Health Act assessments and tribunal work
  • Work closely with inpatient teams, forensic services and substance misuse services
  • Help develop and improve community mental health services across Brighton & Hove

About the service

The East Neighbourhood Mental Health Team is part of Brighton & Hove's community mental health services, working closely with GP practices and a wide network of third sector organisations to provide integrated, person-centred care.

The service offers:

  • Close partnerships with Primary Care and local voluntary organisations
  • Consultant-led services with excellent peer support
  • Collaborative working across the wider Brighton & Hove mental health pathway

We're seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist who has:

  • GMC Specialist Registration (or within six months of entry)
  • Section 12 approval (or ability to obtain)
  • Approved Clinician status (or ability to obtain)
  • Excellent clinical expertise in General Adult Psychiatry
  • A collaborative approach to leadership and multidisciplinary working
  • A passion for service improvement and person-centred care
