CRHT Consultant Psychiatrist – Permanent Position
Location: Harry Blackman House, St Helens (Mid Mersey, St Helens, and Knowsley CRHT, with satellite bases in Warrington, Halton, and Knowsley)
About the Role
Mersey Care NHSFT is seeking an outstanding candidate for a consultant-level psychiatrist position within the Community Recovery and Home Treatment (CRHT) team. This permanent role focuses on delivering high-quality clinical care, providing expert guidance, and supporting clinical leadership across a multidisciplinary team. The team operates across multiple sites, including:
- Harry Blackman House (St Helens – HQ)
- Knowsley Resource and Recovery Centre (KRRC), including:
- Coniston Inpatient Ward (Male)
- Grasmere Ward (Female)
- Rydal Ward (Old Age)
Regular participation in Trust-wide Tuesday LAP (Local Academic Postgraduate/MRCPsych) programmes (conducted virtually) will also be required as part of weekly SPA (Supervised Profesional Appearance) sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Core duties will include:
- Providing expert clinical assessments, reviews, and out-of-hours home visits for urgent/emergency cases, with the majority of work conducted on-site.
- Leading complex case management, including:
- Formulating care plans and delivering evidence-based treatments.
- Consulting with colleagues on patient care.
- Applying Mental Health Act practices where relevant.
- Clinical governance and compliance including:
- Maintaining contemporaneous, high-quality patient records electronically.
- Ensuring timely communication with primary care and cross-agency partners.
- Psychiatric assessments and intervention:
- Conducting thorough clinical evaluations under strict governance frameworks.
- Leadership and collaboration:
- Participating in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to assign patient care responsibilities.
- Driving service development aligned with Perfect Care principles—ensuring care is:
- Safe, effective, and positively experienced
- Timely, equitable, and efficient
