Consultant Psychiatrist - Learning Disabilities Team
Part-Time Consultant Psychiatrist – Learning Disability Service, Oxford
About the Role
We are recruiting for a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Learning Disability Service, based in Oxford.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key leadership role within a well-established multidisciplinary service supporting adults with learning disabilities across Oxfordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical leadership, delivering high-quality, person-centred care while collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, and partner agencies.
- Offer a varied caseload involving:
- Complex assessments
- Treatment planning
- Clinical supervision
- Contribute to service development, teaching, and quality improvement.
- Work alongside the Team Manager and fellow Consultant Psychiatrists to ensure service effectiveness and growth.
- Provide medical input and clinical leadership within the Learning Disability Team (LDT).
- Medical responsibility earnestly rests with the GP, except in cases taken on by the LDT for continuing treatment.
- Responsibility for those patients seen by you and those supervised by you.
- Contribute to data collection for the Trust and relevant agencies, including:
- Timely recording of clinical activity
- Participation in clinical audits (with administrative support)
- Attend key managerial meetings, including:
- Joint Consultant Committee
- Medical Staff Committee
- Directorate and Management liaison meetings
- Participate in training and supervision:
- Local training programmes for junior doctors
- CPD peer groups
- Clinical supervision groups
