Role Overview
Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a General Medical Council (GMC) sponsor employer, invites applications for a passionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our adult inpatient service at our newest purpose-built hospital located within Polaris Ward at Silverwood.
The post-holder will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward, per the Agreed Acute Service Operational Policy. Additionally, responsibilities include:
- Clinical leadership across the service
- Participation in service improvement activities
- Contribution to teaching, research, and quality improvement
- Collaborative working with multidisciplinary teams
This role offers:
- Additional acuity supplement (equivalent to 1PA) for applicants interested in leadership, teaching, or research
- ** career growth support** through extensive training opportunities, including Supplementary Prescription Authority (SPA) time for CPD, audit, clinical leadership, and supervision
- Involvement in Surrey-wide WAA consultant on-call rota (approximately 1:340 shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychiatric care to adults admitted to Polaris Ward
- Lead and support the inpatient team while adhering to NHS Care Programme Approach policies
- Advocate for improvements in patient pathways, safeguarding effective handovers with other Surrey-based teams
- Proactively engage in teaching, research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and service reviews

Benefits
- Salary: £113,565 – £150,569 (NHS Consultant Grade), inclusive of:
- £149 fringe benefits allowance
- On-call payments
- Additional Acuity Supplement (equivalent to 1PA)
- GMC Sponsorship available for eligible applicants
- Relocation allowances: up to £8,000 (international candidates: up to £3,199)
- Recruitment Retention (R&R) bonus: £25,000 (pro rata for part-time)
