Spectacular Mental Health Hospital – Cheadle, Greater Manchester
One of UK’s leading healthcare providers has created an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a specialist inpatient mental health hospital. The service provides innovative, high-quality care for young people and adults with complex and challenging mental health needs, fostering recovery and reengagement with the community.
About the Role
You will be part of a forward-thinking organisation focused on delivering person-centred, recovery-focused care in a highly therapeutic inpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical care for inpatients, including:
- Psychiatric assessments
- Treatment planning
- Conducting ward rounds
- Mental Health Act Responsible Clinician duties
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure recovery-oriented care across therapeutic settings
- Build strong partnerships with:
- Referring NHS Trusts
- Community mental health teams
- Families
- External stakeholders
- Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement
- Participate in on-call rotational duties
- Maintain continuing professional development, ensuring compliance with GMC Revalidation requirements

Essential Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- MRCPsych qualification + full GMC registration with a valid license to practise
Preferred Attributes
- Preference will be given to candidates who:
- Demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation, and treatment planning
- Hold a CCST/CCT in forensic, specialist autism, or psychotic disorder psychiatry
- Have specialist acute inpatient experience with patients presenting significant complex mental health difficulties
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills, including interpersonal training and competence
Compensation & Benefits
- Excellent salary: £170,000 per annum (plus professional allowance)
- Permanent full-time role (37.5 hours per week)
