Consultant Psychiatrist
Consultant Psychiatrist – Exeter, Devon
A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to work in an exceptional psychiatric inpatient service based in the Exeter, Devon area.
The position is with one of UK’s leading healthcare providers, operating a purpose-built facility that provides specialist care for adults with acute mental health needs.

- Full GMC Registration required
Key Responsibilities
As the Consultant Psychiatrist, your primary duties will include:
- Liaison and collaborative working with:
- Care coordinators
- Commissioners
- Families and carers
- Other services/agencies
- Implementation and liaison with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable) regarding the Mental Health Act
- Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and partnership working
- Administrative duties associated with patient care, ensuring:
- All NHSE contractual obligations are met
- Initial discharge summaries are sent out within 24 hours of discharge
- Maintaining professional registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Adherence to professional codes of conduct
- Maintenance of section 12(2) and approved clinician status

Preferred Experience and Skills
Candidates meeting the following criteria will be most favourably considered:
- The ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
- Section 12(2) approval to work in England
- Approved clinician status
- Experience in General Adult settings
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in:
- Acute inpatient or community settings (ideally inpatient)
- Risk assessment and risk management
