We seek a creative Consultant Quantity Surveyor to join our established QS function at what we believe is a particularly exciting time of growth and development for Focus, offering many possibilities and collaboration across our UK wide multi-disciplinary offer. You will have the opportunity to assist with the development of projects and to work closely with a range of clients, acquiring professional skills and knowledge across the wider Focus service portfolio.


Requirements

The role will comprise traditional Quantity Surveying duties, including:

  • Feasibility Studies
  • Cost Plans
  • Employer’s Requirements
  • Valuations and Cost Reports
  • Final Accounts
  • Cashflows

Additional interest and awareness in the following areas would be of particular value:

  • Contract Administration
  • Project Management
  • Delivering projects in the public sector for Local Authorities
  • Life Cycle Costing, Renewable Technologies and / or Mechanical and Electrical Services Surveying

The successful candidate would ideally have approximately 5 years of work experience in the sector with established skills supporting projects from inception to completion. You will have the ambition to develop yourself and the service, possessing the ability to work alone with some supervision. The post presents an exceptional opportunity for the right person to advance further within the field. Significant career development opportunities exist both within the team and across the wider multi-disciplinary business.


The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate The Below Attributes/skills

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction field.
  • Experience in Quantity Surveying within a consultancy environment.
  • General understanding of NEC / JCT contracts beneficial.
  • Excellent IT literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead, and build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines whilst co-ordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making abilities whilst working under supervision.
  • Professional certification / working towards (RICS, CIOB, APM, etc.) advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainability practices and their integration into construction projects is desirable.
