About the Role
We are recruiting a Consultant / Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our LII Places Sustainability Team, where we embed sustainability into projects. This dynamic team delivers a range of services—from strategic governance and management systems to sustainability statements, accreditation support, and certifications like BREEAM, LEED, and WELL.
With Arcadis, you’ll work on diverse, cross-sector projects (buildings, infrastructure, and beyond), gaining breadth and depth in sustainability consulting. Thoughtful innovators are encouraged to help develop new specialised service offerings while refining their expertise.

Technical Support & Project Delivery:
- Lead sustainability assessments for certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL, ensuring:
- Day-to-day coordination with clients and design teams.
- Evidence collection and review.
- Submission of comprehensive reports to BRE (BRE Global) and USGBC.
- Anticipated score forecasting and stakeholder updates.
- Monthly tracking schedules maintenance.
- Lead sustainability assessments for certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL, ensuring:

Sustainability Strategy & Gap Analysis:
- Conduct accreditation/environmental gap analyses.
- Draft sustainability strategies, policies, and statements.
- EIA chapter writing (focusing on sustainability and resilience).
- Sustainable masterplanning support.

Workstream Collaboration & Thought Leadership:
- Provide delivery support to the team and wider Arcadis projects.
- Contribute to sustainability thought leadership initiatives.
- Engage with external stakeholders on office-led EDI&I, bids/proposals, and presentations.
Requirements
Essential
- A strong understanding of technical and commercial aspects of sustainability.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant industry experience (minimum Consultant level or equivalent).
- Formal training and certification (e.g. BREEAM Accredited Professional, LEED AP).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accreditations end-to-end.
- Technical expertise in analytics and assessment aligned with sustainability standards.
- Proficient in Excel, Power BI, and AI-driven tools while ensuring critical thinking.
- Experience in thought leadership (e.g. speaking, research, project innovation).
- Broader low-carbon, resilience, and climate change knowledge.
- Confidence in report writing, client-facing presentations, and bid/proposal preparation.
- Meticulous attention to detail, rapid information synthesis.

- Professional memberships (e.g. Chartered Sustainability Professional).
- Experience with Tracker-Plus or IES VE>TAP.
- Project/programme management experience (especially complex projects).
