Consulting Associate- Contaminated Land and Remediation (Entry Level)
Associate, Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting (Site Investigation & Remediation Team)
ERM is seeking a motivated, hands-on Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting Associate to join our Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team in the UK.
This role is predominantly based in the field, requiring regular travel to client sites. Candidates must be prepared for this commitment.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of program managers and partners, this position will involve:
- Supervising contractors and undertaking routine monitoring during site investigations
- Conducting fieldwork including:
- Walkovers and environmental surveys
- Soil sampling and groundwater sampling
- Supervising and managing contractors on site
- Providing office support, such as:
- Data collection, analysis, manipulation, and presentation
- Producing reports for environmental desk studies, site investigations, and risk assessments
- Supporting fee proposal preparation for future work
- Receiving training to develop skills in managing small to medium-sized projects, including financial oversight
Required Experience
Technical & Professional Background
- Preference for candidates with experience supporting investigation, risk assessment, or environmental assessment work, including fieldwork supervision.
- Previous involvement in active industrial sites with advanced safety cultures or remote locations is advantageous.
- Ideally holds a degree in environmental sciences, hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or chemistry. (Non-degree qualified candidates with relevant work experience will also be considered.)

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (compulsory for frequent on-site travel)
- Willingness and ability to spend extended periods working outdoors and travelling across the region
- Open to continuous development into risk-based decision-making and sustainable remediation approaches
