Consumer Product Designer - 6 Month Contract
Over 25 years of innovation
Innovate Design is an award-winning design studio based in Salisbury that helps inventors and start-ups commercialise their product ideas. You might have seen some of our clients on Dragon's Den or Kickstarter. You can also see our work on TV - we helped candidates complete design challenges on three series of BBC The Apprentice and created the celebrity heads for BBC The Celebrity Traitors (poor Clare Balding!).
Our 15 person design team is based in Salisbury and is easily commutable from Bournemouth, Southampton and Andover. Our in-house team includes product designers, fabric product designers, app developers, researchers and innovation coaches. We support clients in Europe through our Paris office so fluency in French as well as English is a bonus.
We are looking for a talented Junior Designer specialising in Consumer Product Design to take on a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension to a permanent role, depending on business needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
