Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in executive content development (speeches, narratives, social media, video).
  • Proven experience reimagining priority events and engagements to reach new audiences across emerging channels, ultimately advancing core narratives.
  • Experience identifying editorial storytelling opportunities, staying on top of news and industry trends, or leveraging social media platforms.
  • Strong global stakeholder management skills, capable of delivering projects to tight deadlines while marshaling input from teams.
  • Outstanding organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to solve problems proactively and rapidly.
  • Deep curiosity and a relentless drive to find ways to advance GCPA’s strategy.

About the job

The Global Communications and Public Affairs (GCPA) team communicates with priority audiences, from creators to developers to media, and other influential voices about Google's mission, its AI-powered products and approaches.

As the Content and Special Projects Manager, you will accelerate GCPA’s communications work by leading the coordination of priority campaigns, tent-pole events, executive visits, and content development. You will drive a rewired communications approach, delivering reputation-enhancing campaigns that reach new and priority audiences. A critical component of this role is overarching content development, requiring you to craft compelling speeches, shape narratives, and produce engaging multimedia content. By cultivating strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and global teams, you will drive best practices and scale impactful campaigns across channels. Ultimately, your work will play a vital role in advancing GCPA’s overarching strategy.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with teams across the world to devise proactive communications campaigns to advance Google's business and defend the company on product issues and regulatory debates. We're looking for a great communicator and net-worker who can understand complex topics and explain them to priority audiences simply and engagingly.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Google’s priority narratives through proactive multichannel storytelling campaigns and comprehensive content development—including speeches, narratives, briefs, social media, and video—that advance Google’s business and communications objectives.
  • Lead the development, coordination, and organization of international executive trips and visits to accelerate key business objectives and amplify reputation.
  • Guide a rewired communications strategy for priority events by identifying influential audiences and orchestrating creative plans to engage them.
  • Cultivate and own collaborative relationships with executive leadership and global teams to serve as a communications advisor and scale impactful campaigns while coordinating with global teams to deliver priority events, engagements, and materials and lead high-priority projects with tight deadlines.
  • Build and own the coordination of priority campaigns, ensuring they are well-structured and organised to empower country teams to campaign for our top priorities.
