These placements are designed for students who have recently completed a relevant degree or those undertaking a required “year in industry” as part of their course — ready to turn their knowledge into real impact while growing alongside us.
This placement is subject to an enhanced DBS check (with Children’s Barred list).

What you'll be doing
- Assist in creating regular and engaging content for the Club’s official media channels, including but not limited to: digital and social media, website and written publications such as the match-day programme.
- The role will cover the Club’s men’s and women’s first teams, Academy and Foundation, including matchday coverage.
- Work with the Communications, Digital and Content, and Marketing departments to plan, produce and publish content across a range of mediums in line with Club’s tone of voice, values and expected standards.
- Create and capture social media content in a range of formats to fit with the Club’s needs across its social channels, including but not limited to: short-form video content, text updates, graphics and interviews.
- Create and produce digital content in a range of formats to fit with the Club’s needs across its digital platforms — namely the official Club website and app.
- Write and publish press releases and supporter information, to be shared across the Club’s PR, social and digital platforms.
- Work closely and build relationships with key stakeholders both within the Club and externally, including assistance in the production of marketing collateral to generate commercial revenue.
- Collaborate with the media and marketing departments to assist with the management and fulfilment of the Club’s content calendar.

What are we looking for?
- A degree in sports journalism or similar, or work experience within the sports media industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office software
- Strong interest, knowledge, and understanding of football
- A creative approach to content generation, and an interest in the wider football media landscape and social media trends
- Strong organisational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously — working to a content calendar and meeting deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude
- A professional approach to working with high-level individuals both within football and the wider entertainment industry
- The ability to handle confidential information and exercise discretion
- Flexible approach to working hours
Beneficial To Have:
- Experience of covering live sport, particularly football
- Provable work experience in similar roles, both covering live sport and interviews
- A full driving license, and/or the ability to travel between different Club sites as required

The successful candidate will gain experience within a fast-growing football media environment, working with professional colleagues with years of sports media experience. The Wrexham AFC Media and Communications department has a strong history of helping students develop the skills for full-time jobs within the industry, with many former students and employees going on to earn full-time jobs either at Wrexham AFC or further afield — including Premier League clubs.
