CONTENT CONSULTANT
Intro
We're looking for a Content Consultant to join our Member Experience team on a permanent basis. Based in Darlington with hybrid working, you'll create engaging multi-channel communications and campaigns that make complex information simpler, helping our members plan for the best possible retirement.

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

The role
As a Content Consultant, you'll create clear, effective communications and campaigns across digital and print channels.
You'll turn complex pension information into content that helps members understand their pension and take the right action at the right time.
You'll write, edit and improve content across a range of member communications, using insight and feedback to make sure it meets member needs and delivers the right outcomes.
You'll review existing communications, identify opportunities for improvement and develop engaging new content for campaigns, projects and change initiatives.
Working with colleagues across the business, you'll ensure communications are accurate, accessible and aligned with Railpen's content standards.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Create communications and campaigns across digital and print channels.
- Write and edit content that makes complex pension information clear, accessible and easy to understand.
- Develop content for key member journeys, projects and change initiatives.
- Review and improve existing communications using member insight, feedback and performance data.
- Produce content for a range of channels, including email, web, video and print.
- Work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create accurate, member-focused communications.
- Support improvements to digital content and online member journeys.
- Apply Railpen's content standards, accessibility requirements and plain English principles to all communications.
- Monitor content performance and use findings to improve future communications and campaigns.
- Help build a culture of clear, effective and member-focused communication across the business.

The person
You'll be an experienced communications and content professional with excellent writing and editing skills.
You'll be comfortable creating communications across a range of channels and able to turn complex information into content that's clear, accurate and easy to understand.
You'll have experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop effective communications, balancing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work to deadline.
You'll be confident using member or customer feedback, insight and performance data to improve communications and identify opportunities to make content more effective.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Experience creating communications and campaigns across digital and print channels.
- The ability to explain complex information in clear, straightforward language.
- Experience working with stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams.
- A good understanding of accessibility, plain English and content best practice.
- Experience using feedback, insight and performance data to improve communications.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A practical, collaborative approach and a focus on delivering high-quality communications.

- Experience working within pensions, financial services or another regulated environment.
