Content Digitisation Lead (Back Shift)

Job Title: Content Digitisation Lead (Back Shift) Shift Pattern: 1400-2200 Location: Boston Spa, UK Findmypast, part of the DC Thomson media and publishing company, is recruiting for a Content Digitisation Lead to join our team in Boston Spa. The Content Digitisation Lead ensures continuity of delivery, quality, and operational decision-making across extended hours studio operations within a high-volume digitisation environment. The successful candidate will maintain consistent output, mitigate delivery risk, and optimise performance outside core management coverage, directly supporting revenue-generating partnerships and long-term archive value creation. As the team grows, there may be an opportunity for the Content Digitisation Lead to take on more people management responsibilities. The Content Digitisation Lead operates within an increasingly complex external environment, where partner expectations, digitisation scale, and speed to market are critical to commercial performance. The role requires a combination of hands-on production expertise with real-time operational leadership with flexibility across multiple concurrent workstreams. The successful candidate will ensure the studio can respond dynamically to changing priorities, production targets, and partner requirements while maintaining quality, compliance, and cost efficiency. Key responsibilities include: Contributing to digitisation output through preparation, scanning, and quality assurance activities, role-modelling standards of productivity and quality Maintaining evening shift delivery performance against production targets, ensuring continuity of output across all active digitisation programmes Ensuring all digitised content meets defined quality standards for images and metadata, supporting downstream usability and commercial value Effective prioritisation and coordination of work during shift, adapting to changing demands and resolving operational issues in real time Building and managing team capability through on-the-job training, guidance, and documentation, enabling consistent execution of processes Preparing and digitising archive materials to required standards, ensuring preservation, accuracy, and efficiency Maintaining compliance with all health, safety, security, and partner-specific requirements, protecting people, assets, and reputation Skills: IT Operations - Monitors and maintains operational performance, resolves issues, and ensures continuity of service delivery Data Management - Applies quality standards and controls to ensure integrity and usability of digitised content and metadata Quality Assurance - Executes quality checking processes, identifies defects, and ensures adherence to defined standards Process Improvement - Identifies and contributes to improvements in workflows, documentation, and efficiency Performance Management - Supports monitoring of team performance against targets and provides guidance to improve outcomes Relationship Management - Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners Teaching / Training - Delivers practical training and supports capability development through structured guidance and documentation Experience: Experience working in high-volume, target-driven operational environments Exposure to digitisation, archival handling, or quality-controlled production processes Strong attention to detail and ability to work with structured data or image outputs Confidence using IT systems and adapting to new tools or platforms Behaviours that will help this role succeed: Being More Curious Actively seeks to understand processes end-to-end and identifies opportunities to improve quality or efficiency Learns new tools, systems, and methods quickly to enhance delivery Experiment with Purpose Tests improvements to workflows or training approaches in a controlled way Uses evidence from output and quality metrics to refine how work is completed Owning the Outcomes Takes full accountability for shift performance, proactively resolving issues and closing gaps Prioritises work effectively to ensure targets and quality standards are consistently met Being More Collaborative Shares knowledge, best practice, and feedback openly to strengthen team performance Works effectively across teams and with partners to resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum Please note, the successful candidate will need to undergo a basic background check.
