Content Editor

Job Title:

Content Editor (6-month Fixed Term Contract)

Location:

Reigate, UK (Hybrid working; 1 day in the office per week)

Puzzler, part of DC Thomson media company, are hiring a Content Editor on a 6-month fixed term basis.


About the Role

The Content Editor will ensure each product drives engagement, supports revenue performance, and maintains brand distinctiveness. They will adapt content for digital growth and automation, leveraging data, audience insights, and AI-enabled tools to optimise content mix, production efficiency, and quality. Additionally, they’ll ensure consistent execution across a portfolio model by sharing best practices and contributing to scalable content standards.

With a 50-year heritage creating puzzles for newspapers (including Courier, Press & Journal, The Sunday Post), magazines (Stylist, My Weekly), and even the Beano comics, Puzzler also supplies puzzles to active destinations in Australia, Canada, and the USA. This role offers the perfect opportunity for a puzzle enthusiast to create, edit, and proofread puzzle batches, develop new content manually, and craft fresh clues.

  • Commercial Content Delivery
    • Deliver each issue and digital output on time and within budget
    • Achieve revenue, circulation, and engagement targets through effective planning

Required Skills

✅ Excellent command of English language and grammar (both written and spoken) ✅ Ability to apply editorial judgement for content selection, structure, and optimisation ✅ Proficiency in content authoring (high-quality written and puzzle-based content) ✅ Data analysis skills to inform content decisions based on performance insights ✅ Strong organisational ability for editorial workflow planning and scheduling ✅ Supplier management to ensure quality and cost efficiency ✅ Willingness to learn and apply AI and automation tools to improve workflows

Additional Experience

⚡ Essential:

  • Experience with puzzle generation software (e.g., ALPH system)
  • Knowledge of digital/online puzzle ecosystems

⚡ Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign)
