Introduction to YSJ

Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a higher education provider. Through our excellent education and research, we will be a catalyst for change that creates a fair future.

Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging.

The Team

Here at York St John University, we are committed to equal access to higher education and contributing our talents to creating both a fairer world and a more prosperous region. The Content Officer is key to our Conversion Team in the wider Marketing Department and is at the forefront of our efforts to recruit students who share these core values.

The Marketing Department is part of the wider Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions Directorate. The successful candidate will collaborate on the planning, delivery and reporting of our conversion activity with colleagues across the wider Marketing Team, Directorate and the University.

The role

Converting students from initial enquiry to enrolling on their course is an essential area of the student recruitment marketing campaign.

Our ideal candidate will be able to work across a variety of marketing channels and be able to adapt tone of voice accordingly.

The post holder will focus on our undergraduate enquirer and applicant conversion activity for our target audience of prospective undergraduate students. This includes promotion of the York St John student experience and supporting prospective students through the application process. In addition, they will be involved in delivering conversion activity aimed at postgraduate students. Promotion and the follow up of internal and external events such as Open Days and education fairs is also a key part of the role.

They will provide input to the planning, production and delivery of conversion activity primarily using email marketing. The role will also include creating web content and coordinating occasional print projects.

They will also be expected to use performance analytics to measure the success of our conversion content, identify lessons learned and in turn use the results to inform future conversion activity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
