Content Operations Manager
Content Operations Manager
Reports to the Content Operations Lead. Full-time role Based in the UK (remote working unavailable)
This role is part of a 24/7 operational team and operates under a UK employment contract. The Content Operations Manager supports live and on-demand (VOD) content operations for sports and entertainment platforms, overseeing the entire content lifecycle—ingestion, enrichment, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring—to serve millions of global consumers.
Reporting to the Content Operations Lead, this position blends operational management, technical coordination, and stakeholder relationships while managing active client partnerships under pressure.
Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Assist the Content Operations Lead in managing and developing the team
- Oversee daily activities, including:
- VOD processing and metadata preparation
- Audits and publishing workflows
- Support onboarding, training, and mentoring team members
- Escalation point for real-time decision-making
Content Lifecycle (Live & VOD)
- Direct the full VOD lifecycle: media ingestion, transcoding, metadata enrichment, playlisting, publishing, and front-end verification
- Ensure timely scheduling of live and upcoming events (daily, weekly, seasonal)
- Maintain global visibility of content across platforms, ensuring availability and seamless playback
- Coordinate live operations, including real-time monitoring and troubleshooting
Metadata, Editorial & Creative Oversight
- Ensure high-quality metadata standards (titles, descriptions, tags, geo-restrictions)
- Oversee weekly content checklists, fixture updates, and editorial summaries
- Guide editorial creation (match descriptions, highlights) for consistency and clarity
- Supervise production of visual assets (hero images, thumbnails, promotional graphics)

Publishing, Playlisting & Content Presentation
- Manage publishing workflows (playlists, presentation logic)
- Ensure correct publication and display of all content (shoulder programming, highlights)
- Validate cross-platform consistency (mobile, desktop, etc.)
Quality Assurance & Audit
- Implement and oversee regular playback, metadata, and front-end audits
- Maintain daily/weekly validation checks for consistency across systems
- Document content, issues, and operational activities diligently
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Contribute to client-facing "Rules of Engagement" documentation
- Act as liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders (broadcasters, federations)
- Provide real-time risk updates/reports to management
- Collaborate cross-functionally to meet acquisition/ingestion/delivery demands
Performance, Reporting & Financial Oversight
- Track SLAs, operational KPIs, and content performance metrics
- Generate daily/weekly/monthly reports and reconciliations
- Review and approve third-party costs/invoices related to content operations
Systems & Technical Oversight
- Oversee platform operations (ingestion, transcoding, monitoring, distribution)
- Advanced troubleshooting & integration with external systems
- Support proof-of-concept demonstrations for platform sales
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in workflows/tools
Requirements
Essential
- 3+ years’ experience in Content Operations, Media Management, or similar
- Proven expertise in:
- Content ingestion, metadata management, publishing workflows, and delivery systems
- Live and VOD operations in a deadline-driven, shift-based environment
- Strong communication & stakeholder management skills (including handling high-pressure relations)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and content management systems
- Technical aptitude (system troubleshooting, navigation, integration)
- Fluent English (working language)
- Comfort with 24/7 operations and shift coverage
