About the Role
The Content Writer is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality, optimised written content across multiple channels including websites, social media, news articles, brochures, technical documents, and marketing campaigns. The role translates complex engineering and manufacturing information into clear, engaging, and commercially effective content tailored to each platform and audience. This role is critical in ensuring that all published content reflects technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strong brand positioning. The postholder will work closely with technical, engineering, and production teams, proactively asking detailed questions and extracting specialist knowledge to develop authoritative, search-optimised and audience-focused content.
Responsibilities
Content Development (Multi-Channel)
- Produce high-quality, optimised written content for:
- Website pages and landing pages
- Social media platforms (LinkedIn, industry channels, campaign posts)
- News articles and press releases
- Brochures and product literature
- Case studies and project profiles
- Technical guides and specifications
- Blogs and thought-leadership articles
- Adapt tone, structure, and format to suit platform, audience, and objective
- Translate complex technical and manufacturing information into clear, accurate, and engaging content
- Write both long-form and short-form content suitable for digital and print use
- Maintain consistency of terminology, messaging, and brand voice

Digital & Content Optimisation
- Write SEO-optimised web content using keyword and topic guidance
- Structure web content for readability, search performance, and conversion
- Produce platform-optimised social media copy with appropriate hooks, clarity, and calls to action
- Support campaign messaging across web, social, and email channels
- Optimise headlines, meta descriptions, and article structures where required
- Monitor and refine content based on performance feedback
Technical Liaison
- Work closely with engineering, technical, compliance, and production teams to gather detailed subject matter information
- Conduct structured interviews with technical staff to extract accurate and usable content
- Ask precise, detailed follow-up questions to ensure full understanding of products, processes, standards, and certifications
- Validate technical claims and data before publication
- Build strong working relationships with subject matter experts across the business
Marketing & PR Support
- Support the Marketing Manager in executing content and campaign strategy
- Develop news stories, company announcements, and PR-ready articles
- Assist with bid and tender content where required
- Develop customer and project case studies
- Support product launches with coordinated multi-channel content
- Contribute ideas for content themes and campaigns aligned with commercial priorities
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all content is factually correct and technically validated
- Align content with regulatory, certification, and compliance standards relevant to steel doors and fire safety products
- Maintain document control and version accuracy where required
- Follow internal brand and communication guidelines
Results/Measurables
- Volume and quality of multi-channel content delivered to deadline
- SEO performance and engagement metrics for web content
- Social media content engagement and reach
- Accuracy and technical validity of published materials
- Contribution to campaign and product launch content
- Internal stakeholder satisfaction (technical and marketing teams)
- Reduction in post-publication technical corrections

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or similar
- Proven experience in a professional content writing role
- Experience writing for manufacturing, construction, engineering, or technical sectors desirable
- Demonstrable experience writing digital and social media content
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
- SEO or digital marketing certification desirable but not essential
Your Experience
- Strong professional content writing experience across web, social media, PR/news, and print formats
- Demonstrated ability to write optimised digital content
- Highly skilled at interviewing subject matter experts and asking detailed, structured questions
- Strong analytical thinking and curiosity about how products and systems work
- Excellent written English, grammar, and editing ability
- SEO and digital content structuring knowledge
- Comfortable working with engineers and technical specialists
- Detail-oriented and accuracy-driven
- Able to handle technical terminology and standards documentation
- Strong organisational and deadline management skills
- Collaborative and professional communication style
- Genuine interest in manufacturing, engineering, or construction products
- Interest or prior exposure to the steel door industry or related sectors preferred
Pay range and compensation package
- The role will pay £35,000-£40,000 depending on experience
- There are 24 holidays, increasing to 28 within 4 years, plus the 8 bank holidays
