Quality Continuous Improvement Professional – Barnard Castle Site (Secondment/Fixed Term)

About the Role

We are seeking a capable Continuous Improvement professional to join our high-performing Quality Systems team at our Barnard Castle manufacturing site.

The Continuous Improvement and Data Expert (for Quality Systems) will focus on process improvement and optimisation for the site’s quality systems, with a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), data, and digital tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate improvements to quality systems and integrate digital innovation (e.g., Power BI dashboards, AI, and metrics-driven analytics).
  • Enhance decision-making, visibility, and performance management through data-driven insights.
  • Lead continuous improvement by coaching and supporting the Quality Systems Team.
  • Collaborate with system owners and cross-functional teams to:
    • Assess current processes.
    • Identify compliance risks and performance issues.
    • Deliver practical improvements to the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) regarding:
      • Effectiveness.
      • Efficiency.
      • Inspection readiness.
  • Drive improvements across:
    • Deviations and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
    • Change control and documentation.
    • Training compliance.
    • Data integrity.
    • Digital quality systems.
    • Regulatory compliance (aligned with GSK standards and site priorities).

Duration & Notes

  • This is a secondment/18-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC).
  • Applicants must ensure their line-manager supports the role’s demands, including potential temporaryleave from current responsibilities if selected.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience) preferably from a highly regulated manufacturing background.
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement, applying AI, data, and digital tools to optimise processes.
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Professional & Soft Skills

  • Highly self-motivated individual able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong cross-functional influence & leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach teams, drive performance, and resolve barriers for sustainable improvements.
  • Experience working in examples like process improvement (SIPOCs), FMEAs, metrics, and improvement plans in regulated environments.
