Continuous Improvement Manager
Roles Introduction
Deep Sea Electronics is one of the world’s top manufacturers of generator controllers, auto transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle & off-highway controllers. We employ over 200 people across four continents and sell our products to 150 countries directly from our UK head office and through our comprehensive distributor network.
About the Role: Continuous Improvement Manager
As part of the Operations team, the Continuous Improvement Manager will lead initiatives to optimize organizational performance, implement process improvements, and drive efficiency using methodologies like Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and related techniques.
The role supports primarily Operations but extends to site-wide projects and initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Process analysis and improvement
- Evaluate business processes, identify efficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste
- Analyse and document existing production workflows, collect data, and measure the effectiveness of improvements

Strategic execution
- Develop and execute operational efficiency strategies, including workflow redesign and process standardisation

Cross-functional collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering) to ensure alignment and support for process enhancements

Team leadership & mentoring
- Lead cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and facilitate Continuous Improvement (CI) workshops or Kaizen events to foster a culture of Continuous Improvement

Performance tracking & audits
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), conduct audits, and report progress to Senior Management

Compliance & documentation
- Maintain records of CI initiatives, ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards, and conduct inspections
- Maintain detailed process maps and documentation to ensure clarity in process steps and compliance with best practices
- Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) / work instructions as newer procedures/processes are adapted, in conjunction with Production Engineers and Design Engineers
Requirements
- Essential
- Excellence in analytical skills, communication, and strong interpersonal skills
- Proven adaptability and change management capability
- Over 5 years’ experience working within a production environment
- Over 5 years’ experience in project management
- Certified Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma
- IOSH / NEBOSH training (relevant to Health & Safety)
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma techniques and methodologies
- Advanced Excel skills, MRP / ERP experience, and familiarity with Value Stream Mapping (VSM)

- Health & Safety (e.g., Birds Triangle, Green Cross, Near Misses, COSHH Register, RAMS)
- Quality (e.g., PPAP, ICAR, scrap reports, rework reporting)
- R&D (e.g., NPI, controlled batches)
- Maintenance (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, TPM)
External
Works with:
- Contractors (e.g., RAMS, management approvals)
- Subcontractors (e.g., audits)
- Suppliers (e.g., audits, SRM—Supplier Relationship Management)
- Customers (e.g., Voice of Customer—VoC feedback)
