About the Role
You’ll deliver expertise in validation, process optimisation, and continuous improvement (CI) while supporting high-impact projects across our Portfolio. Your work will drive operational excellence and ensure alignment with Convatec’s core mission, values, and priorities—managing diverse projects from start to finish.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Process & Validation Expertise
- Conduct IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), and PQ (Performance Qualification) validation
- Maintain and update change control systems and documentation
Cost & Compliance Management
- Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities
- Adhere to legal, corporate, and site-specific legislation and procedures
- Ensure compliance with:
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations
- Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards

Project & CI Leadership
- Develop and manage detailed project plans (timelines, sequencing, risk management)
- Drive CI initiatives across sites to embed process improvements
- Deliver complex projects within budgets and deadlines
Problem-Solving & Risk Mitigation
- Expertise in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) and NC (Non-Conformance) resolution
- Apply firm risk management for medical devices, including alignment with GAMP5, FDA, MHRA, and EHS requirements
Skills & Experience
- Manufacturing CI role: Proven track record in continuous improvement
- Medical Device Compliance: Hands-on experience with FDA, MHRA, and GAMP5 regulations
- CAPA/NC Problem-Solving: Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving quality issues
- Lean Manufacturing Environment: Skilled in Kaizen principles and waste reduction
- Site-Specific Knowledge: In-depth understanding of processes and equipment in your focus area
- Project & Time Management:
- Demonstrated ability to create plans and meet deadlines
- Balancing multiple competing priorities
- Interpersonal & Teamwork:
- Proactive, flexible, and collaborative mindset
- Strong communicator across shop-floor, office, and clean-room environments
Qualifications/Education
Essential
- Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or equivalent problem-solving methodology)
- PC Proficiency: SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, CAD
- Validation Training: Formal training in IQ/OQ/PQ principles

- Project Management Certification: PMI’s PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner
Working Conditions
- Location: Onsite at Deeside or Rhymney manufacturing facility
- Travel: Up to 15% (domestic/international) to Convatec sites and suppliers
- Environment: Office-based with shop-floor, clean-room, and shift support as required
