Role: Contract Business Analyst (Technology Evaluation)

Industry: Commodities Trading

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days per week)

Contract: Initial 6 month contract (multiyear scope)

Rate: £600-750/day (inside IR35)

X4 Technology are partnered with a global energy trading organisation embarking on a strategic programme to define the future of its Finance & Risk Platform, as part of a wider enterprise initiative spanning Trading, Finance and SAP. The programme will determine whether to enhance an existing in-house platform or implement a third-party solution.

Joining as a contract Business Analyst, you'll lead the end-to-end evaluation and selection process across requirements gathering, RFI/RFP management, vendor/solution analysis, POC delivery, executive recommendations and implementation planning.

Responsibilities for the Contract Senior Business Analyst (Technology Evaluation)

  • Lead business and technical requirements gathering across Finance, Risk, Trading and Technology stakeholders.
  • Drive the end-to-end Build vs Buy assessment, managing RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluations and solution comparisons.
  • Define and coordinate vendor PoCs, assessing functional fit, SAP integration, scalability, risk and total cost of ownership.
  • Analyse current and future-state processes, identifying gaps and shaping the target Finance & Risk platform.
  • Produce business cases, governance artefacts and executive recommendations to support strategic technology decisions.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, architects and vendors to drive alignment and implementation planning.

Requirements for the Contract Senior Business Analyst (Technology Evaluation)

  • Proven experience delivering Business Analysis across large-scale technology evaluation programmes.
  • Strong background leading RFI/RFP processes, vendor selection, Build vs Buy assessments or enterprise software evaluations.
  • Experience working across Finance, Risk, Trading or SAP environments within Commodities Trading, Energy Trading or Financial Services.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior business leaders, technology teams and third-party vendors.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, business cases and gap analysis.
  • Experience supporting enterprise platform implementations and complex, cross-functional transformation programmes.
