I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role within Asset Management, responsible for delivering a coordinated, high-quality capital investment program across our homes.
You’ll take ownership of how we deliver planned works – from kitchens, bathrooms, and windows through to insulation, heating, and wider retrofit activity – making sure everything is delivered in the right sequence, to the right standard, and with maximum impact for tenants.
Acting as the bridge between strategy and delivery, you’ll turn investment plans into well-managed, effective programs on the ground. That means working closely with asset strategy, finance, compliance, repairs, and contractors to ensure everything is aligned and performing.
A big part of this role is taking a whole-property approach – making sure works are joined up, reducing repeat failures, and improving outcomes for tenants, rather than tackling issues in isolation.
This is a great opportunity to shape how we deliver investment, influence long-term asset performance, and make a visible difference to the quality of our homes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the delivery of our capital investment program across the housing stock
- Ensuring works are well planned, sequenced, and delivered efficiently
- Overseeing contractor performance, procurement, and contract management
- Integrating retrofit and energy efficiency works into wider programs
- Working closely with internal teams to align delivery with strategy and budgets
- Monitoring performance, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement
- Ensuring tenants experience a well-managed, high-quality service throughout works
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, bring people together, and drive delivery in a complex environment.
Essential
- Strong experience delivering capital investment or planned works programs
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, and performance
- Ability to lead and motivate teams in a technical or delivery environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to translate strategy into clear, deliverable plans
Desirable
- Experience within social housing or a similar environment
- Understanding of asset management planning and lifecycle investment
- Experience of retrofit or energy efficiency programs
- Professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., construction, surveying, project management)
