Role: Senior Electronics Design Engineer
Rate:
£70-£80pphr, inside IR35
Location:
Outskirts of Crawley, 4 days per week onsite
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer to support the development of advanced electronic systems on an initial 12-month contract. This is a hands-on technical role requiring an engineer with strong electronics design expertise who can contribute immediately to the design, development and validation of complex hardware solutions.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electronic designs, supporting existing products, and helping resolve complex technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuits for new and existing products.
- Design, review and maintain complex multi-layer PCB layouts.
- Work across a range of technologies including EMC, power management, servo control, processor interfacing and communication systems.
- Manage electronic component obsolescence, identifying suitable replacement components and implementing design updates where required.
- Produce and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting technical documentation.
- Carry out design verification, validation and technical reviews.
- Support manufacturing, production and test teams with fault finding, root cause analysis and engineering improvements.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Electronics Design Engineer within a product development environment.
- Strong analogue and digital electronics design experience.
- Extensive experience designing complex multi-layer PCBs.
- Experience using PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD.
- Excellent understanding of EMC/EMI design principles.
- Experience managing electronic component obsolescence and lifecycle planning.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex electronic systems.
- Experience producing high-quality engineering documentation, including schematics, BOMs and design reports.

Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of motors, servo systems and drive technologies.
- Experience with control systems analysis.
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, Simulink.
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of Design FMEA and design reliability techniques.
- Experience developing electronics for harsh operating environments.
- Understanding of lightning protection and indirect/direct effects.
