Contract Head of Enterprise Architecture
Head of Enterprise Architecture – Global Health & Scientific Discovery Organisation
Overview
An amazing opportunity exists with an industry-leading global organisation, dedicated to advancing health and scientific discovery. We are seeking an experienced Head of Enterprise Architecture to establish and lead a brand-new Enterprise Architecture (EA) function.
This senior leadership role will drive technology and data simplification across our complex global ecosystem. Responsibilities include:
- Defining enterprise-wide architecture strategies, governance, and roadmaps
- Leading innovation in Data, AI, Machine Learning, and core business platforms (Salesforce, Oracle, Workday)
- Setting up best practice architectures to support global expansion and regulatory compliance
Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Architecture
- Design and build an enterprise architecture blueprint aligned with business strategy
- Develop and implement an associated simplification roadmap for technology and data assets
- Establish robust architectural governance to ensure compliance, consistency, and scalability
- Lead organisational buy-in for enterprise-wide transformation initiatives

Innovation & Technology Alignment
- Provide strategic direction in emerging technologies (AI, Machine Learning, data automation)
- Integrate cutting-edge solutions to enhance efficiency and reporting
- Drive the evolution of workflows to streamline processes across applications—especially Salesforce, Oracle, and Workday
Operational Excellence & Impact
- Ensure a fit-for-purpose control environment, strong foundations, and scalable data infrastructure
- Align integration strategies to improving:
- Data quality
- Automation
- Process efficiency
- Provide value realisation for digital transformation initiatives under agreed budget and headcount
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders to translate business goals into technical roadmaps
- Develop and oversee high-performing teams who model inclusivity, accountability, and excellence
- Manage third-party vendors to drive desired outcomes
- Contribute to the upskilling and career growth of team members

Technical Requirements
- Proven track record in designing and executing architecture strategies
- Experience in implementing TOGAF (or equivalent industry standards)
- Practical expertise in leading enterprise blueprint development from inception
- Deep technical acumen in Data, Machine Learning, and AI architecture
- Experience in setting up enterprise architecture functions from scratch (preferred)
- Skilled in stakeholder management, governance establishment, and roadmap creation
- Budget and headcount management with a focus on financial responsibility
- Proactive approach to technology trends and innovation adoption
Package & Location
- Competitive day rate
- Hybrid working model based in London
- 6-month contract position
