Role Description
The Contract Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in St Albans, overseeing drainage service contracts from initiation through completion. This role includes:
- Managing contract delivery schedules
- Coordinating field teams
- Ensuring all work complies with technical standards, health and safety regulations, and client requirements
- Handling contract administration, including reviewing terms, monitoring performance, managing variations, and preparing reports and documentation

- Communicating with clients

- Supporting budgeting, invoicing, and cost control activities
- Identifying opportunities to improve service quality, strengthen client relationships, and support business growth
Qualifications
- Experience managing service or construction-related contracts, ideally in drainage, utilities, or facilities management.
- Strong skills in contract administration, including reviewing terms, tracking deliverables, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Proficiency in planning and organising work schedules, coordinating teams, and overseeing multiple projects at once.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues through clear and respectful communication.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to drainage or field-based operations, with a commitment to safe working procedures.
- Comfort using office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing) and management systems to record data and prepare reports.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under time constraints and changing site conditions.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership position, with the ability to guide and support operational teams.
- Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications in construction, drainage, utilities, or contract management are advantageous.
- A valid driving license and willingness to attend sites and client meetings in and around St Albans, as required.
