Contract Manager –Procurement and Commercial (East Green Link Projects)

Base Location: Successful applicants must be based in one of our Scottish locations with 50% office attendance (Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, or Inverness).

About the Role

An exciting Contract Manager opportunity to join SSEN Transmission’s Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team, supporting the Eastern Green Link HVDC programme (cable, converter stations, civils works). Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, this role offers growth within SSE’s portfolio while contributing to critical infrastructure projects.

Ideal Profile:

  • Quantity Surveying graduate with Client/Contractor experience (prior energy-sector experience is advantageous but not mandatory).

Responsibilities

  • Contract Negotiation & Management:

    • Lead negotiations for high-value project contracts under contract terms.
    • Ensure transparent pricing (justification & value for money for consumers).
  • Stakeholder & Problem-Solving:

    • Essential: expert stakeholder management, dispute resolution, and commercial leadership.
    • Gesture collaboration to deliver contract objectives with clarity and aid rhetoric.
  • Cost & Commercial Control:

    • Oversee cost reporting, change management, and payment structures.
    • Own forecasting, budget adherence, and variation negotiations.
  • Post-Contract Oversight:

    • Enforce SSEN Transform Commercial Manual compliance post-signature.
    • Liaise with contractors, adhering to safety regulations and improving safety performance both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (e.g., RICS/CICES membership underway or attained).
  • Experience: Proven expertise in:
    • Estimation & commercial contract drafting/interpretation.
    • Budget management, stakeholder engagement, and NEC/FIDIC contract familiarity (advantageous but not mandatory).
