Contract Manager

Contracts Manager – Nottingham & Peterborough

A business built on strong foundations, Ian Williams Ltd is looking for a Contracts Manager who embodies our values and can lead the successful delivery of our responsive repairs contract across Nottingham and Peterborough.

This role will operate across our offices, with 3 days in Peterborough and 2 days in Nottingham.

To apply, you will bring £52,358 per annum plus a car allowance of £6,700.

Key Responsibilities

As Contracts Manager, you will lead the operational delivery of our responsive repairs contract across Nottingham and Peterborough. Your core focus will be:

  • Team Leadership & Ownership:

    • Instil ownership and responsibility in your teams.
    • Lead, support, and ensure project delivery—on time and to budget.
  • Motivation & Development:

    • Set the example as a leader, motivating, incentivising, and developing direct labour teams (including apprentices).
    • Foster an environment where individuals thrive.
  • Health & Safety:

    • Ensure robust safety measures are in place and rigorously monitored.
    • Demonstrate strong leadership by example in health and safety management.
  • Operations & Reporting:

    • Implement KPI-based reporting and take corrective actions as needed.
    • Oversee resources (subcontractors, plant, materials) to guarantee timely, quality delivery.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding:

    • Take ownership of hiring, onboarding, and induction of new members.
  • Cohesive Collaboration:

    • Build strong relationships with internal/commercial teams to align on contract success.

  • Health & Safety Expertise:

    • A strong record of high standards in health and safety, enforced through systems-based leadership.
  • Planning & Cost Management:

    • Excellent organisational skills to ensure projects meet quality, resource, and budget targets.
    • Experience in risk management within dynamic, fast-paced environments.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Managing direct labour with an understanding of individuals’ capabilities and development.
    • Clear track record of skills-based performance improvement.
  • Customer Focus:

    • A customer-centric approach, delivering consistently against stakeholders’ needs.
  • Qualifications Desirable:

    • SMSTS Certification (Managers’ Safety Training Scheme).
    • An NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management (or willingness to work towards it).
