Contract Manager
Contract Manager (Education Services) – Hertfordshire
An established education services provider is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee a portfolio of accounts delivering alternative education to children who need it most. This role requires a commercial and account management professional with a deep understanding of education, ensuring your skills drive better outcomes for vulnerable learners.
About the Role
The organisation partners with Local Authorities to provide inclusive, high-quality tuition, with a mission to close the education inequality gap. As Contract Manager, you will:
- Sit at the centre of every account, aligning parents, tutors, schools, and Local Authorities to focus on each learner’s success.
- Work in a fast-paced, mission-driven team in Hertfordshire.
Reports to: Contracts Director Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Location: Office-based, Hertfordshire
The Contract Manager ensures smooth learner experiences while maintaining contract profitability, acting as the key liaison across stakeholders. Your work will shape real outcomes by ensuring the right support reaches vulnerable learners.
Key Responsibilities
- P&L Management: Oversee financial health of assigned contracts, ensuring profitability and long-term value.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with Local Authorities, schools, parents, and tutors, serving as the primary point of contact.
- Meetings & Feedback: Lead planning, review, medical, and safeguarding discussions with account stakeholders.
- Performance & KPIs: Ensure monthly targets are met and exceeded across all contracts.
- Tutor Management: Source, assess, and allocate tutors, providing lesson planning, performance reviews, and feedback.
- Reporting: Produce monthly performance reports and comprehensive written reports for Local Authorities.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate records, ensuring adherence to company policies, Local Authority requirements and safeguarding regulations.
- Business Growth: Prepare mini-bids (independently or with Bid Writers) to secure new contracts and expand the portfolio.

Requirements

Essential:
- Proven education background—preferably within UK schools, tuition, SEN, or alternative provision.
- Contract/Account Management experience, ideally in education or the public sector.
- Strong commercial acumen, with budgeting, P&L and KPI management experience.
- Exceptional stakeholder communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to write professional reports and bid proposals.
- Excellent IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office or similar).

- Direct Local Authority or education services experience.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and education regulations.
- Previous tutor management or educator support experience.

Work Permissions
- Must hold right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
Safeguarding
The organisation is committed to safeguarding. The successful candidate must:
- Undergo enhanced DBS check.
- Declare any relevant convictions or warnings.
