Join a specialist acoustic engineering company that designs and manufactures active vibration control systems for floors. Utilising advanced sensor and actuator technology, their smart resonance-cancelling solutions dramatically reduce structural movement, optimising dynamic performance for high-tech, medical, and commercial buildings.
We’re looking for an experienced Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end mechanical design of their next-generation product variant. You will report directly to the CTO and take total ownership of the design cycle, from concept and detailed design through to prototyping, validation, and manufacturing handover.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Responsibilities
- Lead the concept generation, detailed CAD layout, and geometric rearrangement for the new product variant
- Build, test, measure, and iterate physical prototypes; this is a highly practical role
- Articulate the design process beyond CAD drawings. Produce rigorous summary reports, structural justifications, and documentation to support regulatory compliance
- Work closely with and guide a graduate mechanical engineer who is already in post, providing design support
- Partner with the internal electronics engineer and general Research & Development Engineers under the direction of the CTO
Experience Required
- Experience taking complex electromechanical products from concept through to manufacturing
- Expert-level SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation skills, with demonstrable experience in FEA for structural, modal, and fatigue analysis
- A natural problem-solver who is comfortable stepping away from the screen to get hands-on with physical prototyping assemblies and testing
- Comfort with an ad-hoc, flexible working arrangement to accommodate the natural peaks and troughs of R&D workflows (e.g., waiting for manufactured parts)
- The contractor to provide their own CAD laptop and SolidWorks with Simulation capabilities (though provisions can be negotiated if required)
