Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months to begin with
Job Title: Design Engineer
Work Mode: Glasgow (3 days onsite every week)
Telecom Domain experience mandatory with DC and LAN/WAN Experience.

No visa sponsorship only candidates with valid work authorization to work in UK can apply

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive engineering documentation based on client's specifications and high-level project information.
  • Own and manage end-to-end design documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide technical input for change requests (CRQs) and support the evaluation and implementation of technical changes.
  • Produce network design topology diagrams
  • Update network records
  • Assist Project Engineers during project delivery, offering guidance and resolving technical challenges.
  • Ensure all documentation and designs comply with relevant standards and client's requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Practical experience with legacy equipment operating SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) and PDH (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) circuits.
  • Proficiency in IP configuration, including routing and switching.
  • Hands-on exposure to configuring equipment from various vendors, specifically:
    • CISCO routers and switches
    • AVARA PDH/SDH devices
    • OTN XTRAN platforms (MPLS-TP XTRAN Chassis and TXCare Management Software)
    • CISCO Prime Infrastructure
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Orion Modems
    • NOKIA 7705 SAR
  • Ability to translate high-level project information into detailed engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting technical projects and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of electricity substation telecommunications equipment.
  • Understanding of DC power sources relevant to telecoms environments.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new systems, technologies, and processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Nokia certifications) are advantageous.

  • Keenness to learn and embrace telecommunications technology usage in energy industry.
