Outside IR35

Role: Contract Senior Software Engineer (.NET)

Industry: Commodities trading

Location: Central London (Hybrid, 1-2 days per week)

Contract: 6 month initial contract (multiyear scope)

Rate: £650-700/day (Outside IR35)

X4 Technology are partnered with a Commodities Trading company embarking on a major technology transformation, moving from a CTRM-centric architecture to a modern data-centric platform.

As part of this multi-year programme, the business is integrating a new event-driven, near real-time platform, decoupling from their ETRM to build a scalable data hub to support future trading systems and business services.

They are looking for an experienced.NET Software Engineer to develop event-driven services, distributed microservices and real-time integrations within this modern cloud-based trading architecture.

Responsibilities for the Contract Senior Software Engineer (Azure Microservices)

  • Design, develop and deploy cloud-native.NET microservices within an Azure environment
  • Build event-driven integrations using Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus and real-time messaging patterns
  • Develop scalable APIs, data processing services and integration components supporting critical trading and risk systems
  • Work with Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker to deploy, manage and optimise containerised applications
  • Contribute to solution architecture, ensuring highly scalable, resilient and maintainable microservice-based solutions
  • Implement modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and deployment automation using Azure DevOps
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure and Engineering teams to deliver secure, high-performance cloud solutions

Requirements for the Contract Senior.NET Software Engineer

  • Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using.NET/C#
  • Proven experience building event-driven architectures using Event Hubs, Service Bus or Kafka
  • Strong experience designing and developing microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems (gRPC desirable)
  • Experience building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker
  • Experience working with Cosmos DB, SQL Server or other NoSQL/relational database technologies
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous messaging, event streaming and integration patterns
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills within distributed systems
  • Comfortable taking ownership of technical delivery within agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams
