Contract Services Manager
Contract Services Manager – Permanent Role
Location: Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Estate, Birmingham ** Contract Type:** Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) Salary & Benefits: Competitive salary, company vehicle/car allowance, bonus, benefits package, including:

Based in Birmingham as a Bouygues Group company, Equans is now advertising an exciting opportunity with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust for a Contract Services Manager.
About the NHS Contract & Trust Estate
The Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust estate comprises:
- Main sites: Sandwell Health Campus, City Health Campus
- New development: Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH): A modern facility integrating cutting-edge healthcare delivery and building management technologies.
- Additional community-based healthcare properties supporting local service delivery.
Objective: Equans partners with the Trust to ensure all facilities are maintained at high standards, sustaining a valuable workforce environment that benefits both healthcare provision and the local community. This includes:
- Managing diverse building styles, ages and systems within a complex healthcare estate.
- Supporting sustainable service delivery aligning with appointment and operational demands.
The Role: Contract Services Manager
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Day-to-day management of the helpdesk, administration, finance, and reporting, ensuring compliance and prompt delivery of client requirements.
- Client-facing role with a focus on relationship management and risk mitigation, in collaboration with Equans’ internal governance.
- Active participation in the Senior Management Team, ensuring operational and contractual obligations are met.

2. Financial & Performance Oversight
- Oversee helpdesk jeopardy management using Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM).
- Review and report on all deductions (including financial penalties), Service Failure Points (SFP), and Unavailability.
- Track KPI performance against contractual triggers to avoid breaches and deviations.
- Generate actionable insights for the Senior Management Team to resolve non-compliance.
3. Financial Management
- Manage all financial elements of the contract:
- Invoicing and Work in Progress (WIP) resolution, including disputes, debt tracking, and CAP cost invoicing.
- Compliance with accounting policies and reconciliation of contractual funds.
4. People & Facilities Enablement
- First-line management responsibility for all non-technical site-based staff and remote support.
- Work closely with colleagues including the Head of Estates and Technical Compliance Manager.
5. Compliance and Operational Excellence
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) compliance aligned with ISO accreditations.
- Advocate a proactive SHEQ culture with a focus on risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
6. Reporting & Analysis
- Hub for reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports, coordinating input from on-site and remote teams.
- Analyze customer satisfaction data and translate findings into actionable team strategies.
- Monitor and drive technical support team efficiency through analytical reporting.
7. Service Development
- Initiate service improvements from conception to rollout:
- Contribute towards continuous improvement processes delivering best value to the Trust.
- Develop and introduce business efficiency measures ensuring cost-effective delivery.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Management experience (preferably from FM or service d esign/or project management).
- FM experience in healthcare, ideally within Private Finance Initiative (PFI) / contract-based maintenance roles.
- Strong FM leadership skills, including organisational, reputational, and operational compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with experience of dos.
- Mandatory qualifications:
- IOSH-managed H&S commitment or equivalent.
- Knowledge of CAFM systems (especially Maximo).

- Italieness in various language skills to support the diverse NHS team.
