Contract Specialist / Commercial Officer

Location: Fareham, Hampshire

Job Type: Permanent

Compensation: Competitive salary (DOE) plus a wide range of benefits


About the Role

Join a growing engineering organisation where you'll play a key role in shaping high-value contracts, influencing commercial decisions, and supporting major programmes from bid to delivery. This onsite role offers excellent exposure to stakeholders across the business, giving you real impact across the full contract lifecycle.


Main Duties

  • Support bid / no-bid decisions through commercial and contractual analysis
  • Review and develop responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs)
  • Manage contracts across the full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with commercial and customer requirements
  • Conduct detailed contract risk reviews and implement mitigation strategies
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, and contractual agreements
  • Handle complex customer correspondence, including claims and disputes
  • Administer major contracts, tracking performance, delivery schedules, and obligations
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation and change control records
  • Support programme planning and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Monitor performance and proactively recommend commercial and contractual improvements
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working within contracts, commercial, or programme environments
  • Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to manage complex commercial agreements
  • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk and opportunity
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
