Your Responsibilities
As a key member of UK Defence Operations, your role will involve:
- Leading and coordinating the effective management of contractors and control of on-site work activities, ensuring full compliance with H&S policies (including the CDM Regulations). This includes:
- Conducting induction programmes
- Raising and tracking permits
- Monitoring works efficiently
- Ensuring all contractors are properly inducted on site rules, safety procedures, hazards, and emergency protocols
- Intentional coordination with host teams to ensure contractors understand their role and align weekly plans with the Delivery Leads
- Issuing and tracking Permission to Proceed forms and updating relevant stakeholders (Delivery Leads, Project Managers, Senior Management) on contractor attendance
- Regularly assessing H&S performance of contractors and in-house staff through structured work monitoring, deciding the frequency of inspections
- Proactively communicating planned work with stakeholders to minimise conflicts with ongoing trials or operations
Essential Experience
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Direct experience managing contractors, ensuring they have all necessary information for site access and efficient work execution
- A proven ability to organise and work with multiple stakeholders and contractors concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT applications
- Technical expertise in engineering or facilities maintenance, with a strong understanding of operational workflows
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations
- A recognition-level certification in health and safety (preferably IOSH/NEBOSH Managing Safety)

Essential Qualifications
This role requires:
- Education/Experience:
- A Level 3 NVQ in engineering or technical discipline (or equivalent), OR evidence of recent relevant administrative experience
- Licensing:
- A full and valid driver’s licence

🔒 This role requires a minimum SC Security Clearance. If you already hold an in-scope UK vetting credential, transfer may be possible upon appointment.

⚠ Location & Commitment: 37-hour shrink (5 days per week) based at Kyle of Lochalsh and Applecross sites, with expected travel to QinetiQ and customer facilities.
