Job Description – Contracts & Settlements (Trade Confirmations & Recapeurs)
Department Purpose
The Contracts and Settlements department is a critical support function enabling EDF Trading to tightly control its commercial activities and process transactions with a wide range of counterparties. The team acts as the enabler for front-to-back operations, ensuring effective risk management controls—mitigating operational, financial, and reputational risks.

Position Purpose
The role focuses on validating and processing all traded positions entered by the company, with key responsibilities including:
- Ensuring timely delivery of trade confirmations
- Matching these electronically where possible
- Investigating counterparty recaps and reconciling mismatches
- Monitor electronic confirmation failures
- Promote electronic matching adoption among counterparties
- Support continuous improvement of processes & procedures

Primary goal: Maintain the integrity of the company’s traded position and associated profitability (P&L) while adhering to departmental KPIs.
Main Responsibilities

Validations & Reconciliation
- Reconcile broker recaps and investigate mismatches promptly.
- Layer quick validity checks before entering trade execution systems.

Trade Confirmations
- Draft and review counterparty confirmations to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure timely dispatch of confirming trio (aperçu, aperçu-emission, and confirmation), with agreements correctly upheld.
- Automate digital signings where possible.

Electronic Matching
- Monitor and troubleshoot electronic confirmation failures, driving escalation & resolution where necessary.

Process Improvement
- Regularly review, document, and enhance workflows and procedures to mitigate risks.

Compliance & Communication
- Cross-circuit KPI monitoring to meet team performance benchmarks.
- Customer-facing inquiries & support to address counterparty disputes efficiently.
- Build trusted internal relationships with trading, clearing, and front office teams.

Relationship Management
- Advocate and foster use of electronic matching platforms with counterparties.
- Collaborate with both EDF Justice’s counterparts and several subsidiary markets (Gas, Power, and Emissions).
Experience & Skills Required
Ideal Profile
- 1–3 years experience in a Confirmations or Back Office role in energy markets (Gas, Power, or Emissions preferred).
- Strong understanding of trade lifecycle processes, including booking, amendment, and settlement.
- Visual, auditing, and tracking abilities to ensure trade reconciliation and process integrity.
- Working knowledge of Excel (level 2 proficient) for trade & reconciliation analysis.
- Numeracy and attention to detail with a motivation for daily operations and process improvement.
Technical Requirements
- Proficient in Excel/operational formats.
- Fluent in trade lifecycle processes, including booking logic, counterparties confirmations, and clearance flows.
- Ability to assess the soundness of client position sets, and identify inconsistencies.

Hours & Working Environment
- Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm (40 hours per week).
- Highly digital operations, with hybrid/office-based work arrangements based on core responsibilities.
- Fast-paced, digital-first, and often technically demanding.
