Contracts Engineer

Contracts Engineer – Sizewell C Project


About The Role

Join our Ground Engineering team on the historic Sizewell C project in Leiston, Suffolk, a groundbreaking venture delivering clean energy to 6 million homes for 60 years.

Sizewell C will establish a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station, providing reliable low-carbon electricity to the east of England.

The project is led by the Civil Works Alliance, a collaborative enterprise between Sizewell C and three global construction giants: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics, and Laing O’Rourke. This alliance unites decades of expertise from major international infrastructure projects to ensure successful delivery.


What You’ll Be Doing

The ideal candidate will manage technical and commercial aspects of on-site projects while contributing to the smooth execution of this ambitious infrastructure development. Key responsibilities include:

  • On-site project oversight, covering technical administration and commercial aspects
  • Liaison with the plant yard regarding costs and damages
  • Workforce coordination to ensure sufficient labour for project delivery
  • Budget support, ensuring profitability and no shortfalls in estimates
  • Pre-project site assessments including:
    • Verifying piling platform sufficiency
    • Ensuring welfare facilities compliance
    • Reviewing FPS (Functional Protection Services) attendances
  • Contract and site documentation management, including:
    • Preparation of contract and site files
    • Development of job-specific contract plans, ITPs (Instruction to Tenderers), and RAMs (Risk Assessment Method Statements)
  • Subcontractor butchery for setting-out, excavators, muckaway, and steel fixing services
  • Material procurement liaison with purchasing teams
  • Client engagement, providing updates on site progress, cost changes, extensions of time, and additional works
  • Maintenance of detailed site records

Who We’re Looking For

We seek a Contracts Engineer with the following key competencies:

  • A strong understanding of:
    • CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) piling
    • LDA (Displacement or Light Diaphragm Wall Anchored) techniques
    • Secant piling
    • Support fluid piling methods
  • Commercial acumen for cost and contract management
  • IT proficiency (excellent Word, Excel, and specialty software familiarity)
  • A basic grasp of geotechnics and pile design principles
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
