Contracts Manager – Engineering-Led Organisation

Your New Role: Contracts Manager
As Contracts Manager, you will:
- Lead the Contracts team, managing the full lifecycle of contractual activity across projects and new business.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day team operations and ensuring delivery against departmental objectives
- Leading the preparation, negotiation, and execution of contracts from acquisition through to closure
- Driving team development, including mentoring, coaching, and performance management
- Acting as a key commercial interface, collaborating with cross-functional internal stakeholders
- Providing a clear vision and leadership while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Identifying and managing contractual risks, implementing mitigation strategies

What You’ll Need to Succeed
Proven experience required in:
- Contracts/commercial environment
- Leading and developing teams
- Contract drafting, interpretation, and negotiation
- Managing high-value, complex UK and international contracts (including amendments and varied agreements such as:
- NDAs
- Licencing agreements
- Teaming agreements
- Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs))
- Experience in regulated environments, ideally within defence or government contracting
- Strong grasp of compliance and governance frameworks
- Exposure to international contracting environments
Personal Attributes and Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management—ability to influence at all levels
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Highly organised, capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Results-driven, proactive, and adaptable in fast-paced environments
- Comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team
