Job Title: Contracts Manager

Phoenix enables digital transformation across the UK public sector, empowering organisations to innovate with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, data, AI, security and collaboration technologies.

We are now hiring a Contracts Manager to join our Legal & Contracts team. This role will focus on providing commercially focused contract advice and support across the business, helping Phoenix manage risk while supporting growth across our customer, supplier and partner relationships.

You will work closely with sales, bid, procurement, finance and operational teams, supporting the review, negotiation and management of contracts across public sector frameworks, customers, suppliers and subcontractors. The role requires a pragmatic and commercially minded approach, balancing risk management with business objectives.

What will you be doing?

  • Review, negotiate and manage contracts across customers, suppliers, subcontractors and partners
  • Support sales and bid teams with the review and negotiation of customer terms and conditions
  • Promote the use of Phoenix standard terms and conditions wherever appropriate
  • Review public sector framework agreements and support teams in ensuring compliance with framework requirements
  • Negotiate customer contract amendments and non-standard contractual terms
  • Support supplier-facing teams with subcontract and reseller agreement negotiations
  • Review and negotiate non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and confidentiality agreements
  • Act as a key point of contact for contractual and legal queries across the business
  • Provide practical and commercially focused guidance on contract-related matters
  • Support the annual review and maintenance of Phoenix standard contractual documentation
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, legal advisors and internal stakeholders
  • Support compliance with company information security policies and processes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract management processes and controls

What are we looking for?

  • Good understanding of UK contract law
  • Knowledge of public sector frameworks and contracting environments
  • Understanding of supplier, reseller and subcontractor relationships
  • Awareness of the Procurement Act 2023
  • Awareness of UK GDPR and data protection principles desirable
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and commercial awareness
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance legal risk with practical commercial outcomes
  • Confident working with stakeholders at all levels across the business

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Contracts, Commercial or Legal role
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Experience supporting customer and supplier agreements
  • Experience within technology, managed services or public sector environments desirable
  • Legal degree desirable but not essential
  • Professional legal qualifications desirable but not essential

Primary location is our HQ in Pocklington (YO42).

Hybrid working is supported, with flexibility depending on business requirements.

How many interviews?

Following a screen with the Recruitment Team, you can expect a two-stage interview process — one online and one in-person.
