Contracts Manager
Location: Bristol / Gloucester Region
Permanent, Full Time
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the growth and delivery of major highways and civil engineering projects across the Bristol and Gloucester region. Working across newly secured frameworks and competitive tenders, you will help shape project success from bid stage through to delivery, leading schemes that make a lasting impact on local infrastructure and communities.
Job Description
As Contracts Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across the South West region. You will work closely with pre-construction, planning and operational teams to support the development of winning tender strategies and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Working across framework opportunities and open-market tenders, you will bring operational insight to bid submissions and lead delivery once projects are secured. Projects typically range from £1m to £15m and you will manage a portfolio of up to three projects at any one time. This role is ideal for a confident leader who enjoys building strong relationships, driving project performance and contributing to the continued growth of a successful civil engineering business.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the successful delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across the Bristol and Gloucester region.
- Oversee multiple projects, ensuring safe delivery, commercial success and programme performance.
- Work collaboratively with pre-construction and planning teams to develop delivery strategies for tenders.
- Provide operational expertise during framework competitions and tender submissions.
- Support the successful conversion of new business opportunities into delivered projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure projects comply with health, safety and quality standards.
- Provide leadership and support to project teams across your portfolio.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the South West business unit.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience managing highways and civil engineering projects.
- Experience operating at Contracts Manager level within a construction environment.
- Strong understanding of project delivery, programme management and operational leadership.
- Ability to contribute to tender reviews and delivery planning activities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to drive project performance.
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
- SMSTS certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Degree in a construction, engineering or related discipline is advantageous.
