Contracts Manager – Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping (South East England)
Location: South East England (Hertfordshire, London, Essex, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Middlesex) Type: Permanent Salary: Up to £55,000 + Company Car + bonus + benefits
About the Role
Our client, a leading family-owned provider of grounds maintenance and landscaping solutions, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee customer relationships, tender activity, estimates, and project execution. Based in the South East of England, this role is home-based with regular travel requirements—including including one day per week to the Midlands for sales meetings.
Your expertise will be core to growing market share, securing new contracts, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across schools, care homes, hospitals, and commercial properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer relationships, including account management, presentations, and contract negotiations
- Respond to inbound sales enquiries and convert them into profitable contracts
- Produce accurate estimates and agree pricing with clients
- Oversee tender submissions and bid strategy for competitive bids
- Project manage small works, plot works, and projects to commercial and quality standards
- Maintain client relationships to enhance satisfaction and retention
- Generate and pursue sales opportunities across key markets
- Adhere to tender pricing strategies and annual contract reviews
- Monitor and manage subcontractors delivering works
- Report on monthly Sales KPIs (pipeline, contract risk, targets)
- Maintain comprehensive contract files and contribute to audits

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping sector
- Strong background in sales, estimating, pricing, and commercial management
- Preferred experience as: Commercial Manager, Client Services Manager, Key Accounts Manager, or Service Delivery Manager
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with critical thinking for pricing/negotiation
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, with confidence in negotiating and engaging stakeholders
- Experience with tendering, pricing models, and strategic negotiations
- High standards of time management, organisation, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Valid UK driving licence (optional for home-based role, but occasionally essential for travel)
